* Group fishing start on Friday morning, so you may want to get here on Thursday or even earlier in the week.
The Great Summer Outing is a fantastic event designed especially to help beginning fly fishers to get started fly fishing the Eastern Sierra. But even experienced old time members can join in the fun.
THIS YEAR WE HAVE SPECIAL EVENTS ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THERE WILL BE AN ENTEMOLOGY PROGRAM TAUGHT BY ROBERT YOUNGHANZ AKA "THE BUG GUY"
Robert Younghanz, a.k.a.The Bug Guy, has been involved in the Fly Fishing industry for close to 25 years. Having traveled to over 60 countries, he is an accomplished angler, teacher and guide for fresh, salt, tropical and warm water species. His passion and expertise in the field of Aquatic Entomology has enabled him to travel the world collecting Insects, as well as studying, researching, curating and teaching at Colorado State University, In addition, Robert is a published researcher and has described several new species of aquatic insects. As a contributing writer for Field and Stream’s “Fly Talk”, and TROUT Magazine he offers helpful advice on entomology and fly selection to fly fishers all over the globe. Check out the line-up of guided activities. Register for the Saturday evening BBQ Dinner and those events that interest you.
-- Note that a few are specifically encouraging beginners.
-- Others are planned for more advanced anglers.
-- Many are open to all.
Or, don't register for any of the guided activities, but come and fish some of your favorite Sierra spots and get together with friends for meals and campfires.
Camping
We do have a reservation at the group campground in Shady Rest. In order to reserve a campsite contact Michael Schweit (msangler@earthlink.net or 818-601-9702). The costs will be divided by the participants. The site is reserved from Thursday through Sunday.
Click on the "Register Now" button. follow the instructions. Note that the BBQ Dinner is listed at $35.00 and youngsters under 12 are only $15.00 and the open bar is of course, additional. You must pay for the dinner at the time of registration with either a credit card or PayPal.
Review the activities and check those that you want to do.
Make sure that your selected activities don't overlap as it's rather difficult to float tube Crowley while casting dry flies on the Dana Fork.
